Fashion Valley Satisfies Your Inner Fashionista With a Stellar Lineup of Stores

Fashion lovers who visit San Diego, California might think that they have died and gone to heaven when they walk into the 1.7-million square feet mall. With its open air floor plan and upscale ambience, the mall is one of the best-known malls in the country, let alone in the state of California.

With its opening in 1969, Fashion Valley capitalized on the growing shopping mall movement with several well-known stores anchoring its collection of shops. In 1981, the mall upgraded to add both a Neiman Marcus and a Nordstrom’s store to its lineup.

In 1992, an even more upscale store, San Francisco’s I. Magnin, was added. The company, however, closed its doors forever during the 90s, leaving a gap which was filled in 1995 by Saks Fifth Avenue. The mall was renovated in 1997 to include more square footage as well as additional parking spaces. Unfortunately, Saks closed the Fashion Valley in 2010 during a slowly-recovering economy.

Currently, the lineup includes all of the big fashion hitters, from the mundane JCPenney to the exclusive Neiman Marcus. Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s and Macy’s round out the big guns. Other stores include a Tiffany & Co. store, Tory Burch, Hugo BOSS, Henri Bendel, Coach, Gucci, Omega, Louis Vuitton, and Ted Baker. For fashionistas, this place has all the bells and whistles.

After you shop, drop down into one of the plush seats in any of the 18 movie theaters there. After the movie, you can dine in one of the mall’s bistros, or nosh on cheesecake at the Cheesecake factory. Sushi more to your tastes? Got that, too. The usual mall food chains round out the dining selection—PF Chang’s, California Pizza Kitchen, and many more.

Fashion Valley Mall gives shoppers plenty of time to stretch your fashion wings. Open from 10 in the morning to 9 in the evening every day but Sunday, you can put in a solid eight hours of work—and then some. Even on Sundays, the mall offers plenty of time to check out the latest fashions—from 11 in the morning until 7 in the evening.

For people who love to shop, Fashion Valley is the place to be when you’re in San Diego. With the variety of choices available, even the choosiest fashion fans will be well-satisfied.
